Summary
On Feb. 12 in Washington, D.C., Philips hosted its “Innovation Celebration” brand relaunch at the National Portrait Gallery Smithsonian American Art Museum. Through a vibrant and powerful light show designed by world renowned lighting and production designer Marc Brickman, guests experienced Philips solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges in health care, energy efficiency and well-being. The interior courtyard of the National Portrait Gallery came alive, using an interplay of light with the building’s architecture to showcase Philips innovation in action.
Brickman made history with one of the world’s most iconic buildings as his canvas in late 2012. The Empire State Building., with lighting provided by Phillips Lighting, had its first light show, programme designed by Brickman, music by Alicia Keys. In December of 2013, Brickman tasked award-winning video system design and integration firm Pixel Density Design and SCANable to help bring his vision to life.
SCANable used the latest laser scanning technology to capture high-resolution data of the National Portrait Gallery Courtyard, the site of the private Philips event. SCANable created an accurate detailed model of the entire courtyard that was used by Brickman’s team to conceptualize and render an immersive 3D experience that was then projected back onto itself at the live event.
