In October 2014, SCANable performed a 3D Laser Scan of Disneyworld‘s Main Street and Cinderella’s Castle. These scans were then used to develop a meshed 3D model to create the ice and snow visual effects seen at the end of the Disney ‘Frozen’ Christmas Day special.

Building on the mega-successful Frozen franchise, Disney put together their 31st Annual Disney Parks Christmas Celebration using a Frozen theme. At the end of the show, “Elsa” casts a freezing spell on Main Street USA causing ice to race down the street culminating in the frosting over of Cinderella’s Castle. SCANable’s 3D modeling helped make this exciting special effect possible.
